PROUD!

Today we listened to this song by Heather Small.

I look into the window of my mind
Reflections of the fears I know I’ve left  behind
I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I’m on  my way
Can’t stop me now
And you can do the same
What have you done  today to make you feel proud?
It’s never too late to try
What have you  done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make  that break for freedom
What have you done today to make you feel  proud?
Still so many answers I don’t know (there are so many  answers)
Realise that to question is how we grow (to question is to  grow)
So I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I’m on  my way
Can’t stop me now
And you can do the same (yeah)
What have you done today to make you feel  proud?
It’s never too late to try
What have you done today to make you  feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for  freedom
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
(Yeah) We  need a change (Yeah)
Do it today (yeah)
I can feel my spirit  rising
(change, yeah) We need a change (yeah)
So do it today  (yeah)
‘Cause I can see a clear horizon
What have you done today to make you feel proud? (To make you feel proud)
(Let me hear ya X3)So what have  you done today to make you feel proud?
(yeah X4)’Cause you could be so many  people
Just make that break for freedom
So what have you done today to  make you feel proud?

After the students amazing portfolio presentations at Parent Teacher Interviews last night we felt this would be a very appropriate song.

This term has also seen FANTASTIC improvements in test results and Table Master achievements! Improvements that 5/6E students should be really PROUD of!

We have other subject areas to be proud of too : Sport, Writing, Reading, Music, Art, eLearning.

What are you proud of at the moment?

What have you done that makes you feel proud?

Prime, Composite, Factors and Multiples

Throughout the week we have been looking at definitions for the words in the title and have been exploring numbers that fit these definitions. We discovered there were 25 prime numbers between 1 and 100 and that there was not pattern to these at all.

We have also talked about factor trees and that composite numbers are the product of prime numbers. See the example below for the faactor tree for 54.

View the following PowerPoint Presentation that explains each of the words in the title of this post as well as demonstrating factor trees and prime factorization.

Being a good friend

Today in class we will be discussing the things a good friend should do and the qualities that we would like our friends to have.

The following websites will provide you with some great ideas:

After discussing the qualities of a true friend we will be making a comic strip depicting a quality of a good friend. Your scene may depict honesty, loyalty or understanding. You may also choose one of your own.

What did you think of this website?

Can you explain what your comic strip was depicting?

Energy

Over the last few weeks we have been discussing renewable and non renewable enerhy sources. We were able to list sources under each heading quite easily. However, this week we have been researching some of the renewable sources in greater depth. We have been learning a lot and so has Miss Hunichen.

Our task is to create a poster that shows our understanding of 4 renewable sources and 4 non renewable sources.

We need to think about the following when we are researching:

1. What is it?

2. How is it used?

3. What are the advantages and disadvantages?

The following websites may help you with your research:
