Fantastic Fraction Flags

Guest Post written by Sasha

Grade 5/6E had to make a flag for a made up country of Ruitangia. The flag had to be a particular way it had to be 32 cells and 5/8 of that flag had to be blue, 1/8 of that flag had to be yellow and 1/8 had to be red. This was a very challenging task because we had to figure out how many cells there would be for each colour. We also learnt how to remove lines from the table so it would be a proper flag. To make this flag we had to make table 4 squares tall and 8 squares long. Then we had to create a stylish design without using too many cells for each colour. It was a very difficult task and it challenged everyone’s ICT skills. We had to extend this project by choosing 3-4 colours and choosing how many cells we wanted. Then we had to figure out how much would be each fraction and would there be too many cells or not enough it was also a very challenging task there was many difficult ICT skills involved.
