The Lion King

On Thursday the 26th of March New Gisborne PS held their very first Performing Arts concert. Miss Wencel put in an amazing amount of work in Term 1 and the concert was a huge success. Thank you so much to all those that were involved in making this night what it was…. Truly Spectacular!

Have a look at our slideshow below… It also includes video of the dance!

Our Favourite Things about Term 1

Wow!! It’s hard to believe that we have completed one term at school already!! We have completed 34 days of grade prep and the children have settled into the routines of school life so amazingly well. Today we discussed some of the things that we have done in Term One and we talked about which things were our favourite. Here are your children’s responses:

My Favourite thing in term 1 was:

Chelsea – playing chasey outside with Lily

Lyla – going to Visual Art because we did painting

Matilda – learning how to write

Liam – when we made Frog in a Pond and Fairy bread

Leon – when we made faces and learnt about graphing

John – going to PE because we got to play basketball

Isaac – singing all of the Jolly Phonics songs and other songs in the classroom

Max – seeing Lettergetter every day when we were learning our letters

Connor – going to Performing Arts because I really like dancing

Bryce – going to PE because I like it when we play Scarecrow Tiggy

Joe – playing outside on the playground

Abbi – when we were able to use the whiteboards to practise our writing

Kyle – going to the gym with Mr Goodyear and throwing and catching beanbags

Kaida – hearing the joke Miss Hunichen had for each day

Myah – when we made Easter Baskets with our buddies

Ava – when we got to go to the library and were able to borrow books

Mason – when we played Maths games, I liked the Monster Match dice game best

Lily – playing with my cousins Melon and Amelia outside

Eloise – when we used Sunshine Online and the big TV to see Numbercruncher

We also talked today about our Author Study for the term. We have been looking at Pamela Allen and have read the following books of hers:

We discovered that most of her books have rhyme in them somewhere but that there are some that don’t. Today we laid the books on the floor and we had to sit behind the story that was our favourite. Can you guess what the most popular book was?

Was there anything else about Term 1 that you really enjoyed?

What are you looking forward to in Term 2?
